Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 5, 2009 Springfield Resident Killed in Crash on Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish Yesterday, May 4, 2009 at 4:55 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Springfield resident. The crash occurred on Interstate 12, 4.3 miles east of LA 445 at milepost 51.9 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2001 Ford Explorer, driven by Stacy L. Lusk (B/F/Age 32) of Springfield, LA, was traveling westbound upon the left lane of Interstate 12, when the Ford experienced a tire failure. The driver overcorrected to the left causing the Ford Explorer to travel off the roadway to the left. The Ford began to rotate counter-clockwise, rolled over, and impacted a tree with its left side. The driver of the Ford Explorer, Stacy L. Lusk, of Springfield, LA, was pronounced dead by the Tangipahoa Parish Assistant Coroner Bruce Hostetter, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol/drugs use is not suspected in the crash; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis.
