LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Click It or Ticket Enforcement Blitz Buckling Down on Those Not Buckled Up – Day and Night. Louisiana State Police – Troop A is actively participating in the national Click It or Ticket campaign that ends on June 1, 2008. Troopers are partnering with deputies and officers to aggressively enforce the state’s seat belt law. In 2007, Troop A investigated 102 fatal crashes, which resulted in 110 deaths. 54 percent of those crashes involved an unrestrained occupant. Statewide, 57 percent of all fatal crashes occurred between the nighttime hours of 6PM and 5:59AM. “These stats are reasons why Troop A is involved in the Click It or Ticket enforcement mobilization. Increasing seat belt use and reducing highway fatalities during the day or night is key to creating a higher quality of life for everyone,” said Captain Frank Ducote, Commander State Police – Troop A. Louisiana law requires the driver and front seat passengers to wear a safety belt correctly at all times. Children under the age of thirteen must be restrained with a seat belt and/or appropriate child restraint regardless of the seating position. Seat belts are not just a good idea, it is the law!
