Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: April 4, 2009 Pedestrian Killed in Crash on LA 436 in Washington Parish At 10:35 PM, on April 3, 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on LA 436 at milepost 12.0 in Washington Parish. A 2001 GMC pickup, driven by Andrea Pounds (W/F/Age 38) of Angie, LA, was traveling eastbound on LA 436. The pedestrian, James E. Fritz Jr. (W/M/Age 20) of Angie, LA, was walking east upon the eastbound lane of LA 436. Fritz was impacted by the right front corner of the GMC pickup. After impact, Fritz traveled approximately 50 feet and came to rest in a ditch. The pedestrian, James E. Fritz Jr. was transported to LSU Medical Center (Bogalusa) by Northshore EMS to receive medical treatment for severe injuries sustained in the crash. Once at LSU Medical Center (Bogalusa), Fritz was pronounced dead by Dr. R. Limbaugh, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol/Drug involvement is unknown; however, blood results are pending. The driver of the 2001 GMC pickup, Andrea Pounds was not injured in the crash. Pounds submitted to a chemical breath test and the results indicated .000g% BAC and no citations issued. The passenger, Joseph Pounds (W/M/Age 40) of Angie, LA, was not injured in the crash. The driver and passenger were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
