Two Killed in Crash on LA 25 in St. Tammany Parish

Yesterday, at 9:35 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two-vehicle crash that resulted in two people being killed. The crash occurred on LA 25, just north of LA 1077 in St. Tammany Parish.

A 2001 Mitsubishi two door, driven by Travis Jenkins (W/M/Age 36) of Folsom, LA, was traveling southbound upon LA 25. A 2006 Nissan Altima, driven by Victoria Burton (B/F/Age 44) of Franklinton, LA, was traveling northbound upon LA 25. For an unknown reason, the Mitsubishi traveled off the roadway to the right. The vehicle then re-entered onto the roadway rotating in a counter-clockwise direction. The Mitsubishi traveled over the centerline and upon the northbound lane and struck the Nissan Altima head-on.

The driver of the Nissan Altima, Victoria Burton, of Franklinton, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Jill Smith of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected for Burton; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Burton was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
