Suspicious Activity Leads to Multiple Arrests

At 7:45 AM, this morning, a Department of Public Safety (DPS) officer received a complaint, which resulted in the arrest of two Baton Rouge residents. The incident occurred at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) building located at 1201 Capitol Access Road in Baton Rouge, LA.

A DPS officer received information in reference to a suspicious vehicle, Mercury Sable, circling the LA DOTD building. Prior to coming into contact with the vehicle, the officer notified the dispatch of the suspicious activity. Additional officers listening to the radio communication were in route to assist (as needed).

Upon the arrival of the additional officers, the driver, Ronald F. Eubanks (Male/Age 33) of Baton Rouge, LA, stated that he was waiting for his wife to come out of the building. Officers verified that Mr. Eubanks’ license was valid and discovered that there was an active warrant through the Baton Rouge Constable’s Office for Failure to Appear in Court (No Seat belt and Driving Under Suspension). As Officers were placing Mr. Eubanks in the back of the patrol car, Ms. Lesheka Bankston walked out of the LA DOTD building.

Officers approached Ms. Bankston and began to verify whether she possessed a valid driver’s license. The driver’s license check revealed that Ms. Bankston had active warrants through Baton Rouge Police Department for Identity Theft, Forgery and Attempted Felony Theft. Ms. Bankston was taken into custody and the juvenile that was present with the couple was released to her grandfather. Ms. Bankston was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and Mr. Eubanks was booked into the Baton Rouge City Constable’s Jail.
