Driver and Passenger Killed in Fatal Crash on LA 60 in Washington Parish

Today, at 12:40 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on LA 60 at milepost 2.5 in Washington Parish.

A 2006 KIA four door, driven by Bernard W. Magee Jr. (B/M/age 52) of Bogalusa, LA, was traveling eastbound on LA 60. Magee failed to negotiate a curve on the roadway to the left. The KIA traveled off the roadway to the right and entered into the marsh. The vehicle then impacted a utility pole and began to overturn several times, coming to rest upside down. At some point during the crash, the passenger was ejected out of the vehicle, due to not being restrained by a seat belt.

The driver of the KIA, Bernard W. Magee Jr., of Bogalusa, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Assistant Coroner Art Richardson of the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected for Magee; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The passenger, Madeline V. Magee (W/F/age 41) of Bogalusa, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Assistant Coroner Art Richardson of the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the KIA was wearing his seat belt, but the passenger was not.
