Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release September 5, 2009 Driver Killed in Crash on LA 445 in Tangipahoa Parish Troop L - Today, just after 3:30 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on LA 445, 1.2 miles south of Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish. At 3:35 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a Ponchatoula resident. A 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by Joshua P. Campo (W/M/Age 27) of Ponchatoula, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 445. The driver failed to maintain control of his vehicle and traveled into a ditch. Once in the ditch, the Grand Marquis traveled for approximately 180 feet and then struck a pine tree. The driver of the 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, Joshua P. Campo, of Ponchatoula, LA, was transported to North Oaks Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance, to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at North Oaks Medical Center, Campo was pronounced dead by Dr. Thomas Reinenike, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol is suspected for Campo; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
