Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release August 15, 2009 Slidell Man Killed in Crash on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish Yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 12, at milepost 80.5 in St. Tammany Parish. At 3:19 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a Slidell resident. A 2005 Ford Explorer, driven by Thomas C. Clarke Jr. (B/M/Age 44) of Slidell, LA, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 12 in the right lane. For an unknown reason, the Ford Explorer gradually traveled off the roadway to the right and struck a tree with its front right corner. After impact, the vehicle continued to travel eastbound and impacted several more trees with its front end. The driver of the Ford Explorer, Thomas C. Clarke Jr., of Slidell, LA, was transported to Northshore Hospital to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Troop L was notified today that Thomas Clarke Jr., was pronounced dead by Dr. Williams, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected in the crash; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Troop L was advised by the hospital, that Thomas Clarke Jr. had a medical condition that may have contributed to the crash. The investigation of the crash is on going.
