Troopers Investigate Fatal Crash on LA 1090

Pearl River- On Thursday May 23, 2019 at approximately 2:45 PM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 1090 (Military Rd.) at Forest Ridge Drive in St. Tammany Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 70 year-old Daniel James Wehr of Slidell.

The initial on scene investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Wehr was riding a 2019 Slingshot Motorcycle [3-wheeled, open-air roadster] northbound on LA 1090 approaching Forrest Ridge Dr. For reasons still under investigation, Wehr’s vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Wehr was wearing a DOT approved helmet; however, he was not wearing the equipped seatbelt. Wehr sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected. Toxicology results are pending testing by the St Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.

Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. Please take a moment to speak with your loved ones about the importance of their safe decisions. Remind them to always wear a seatbelt, never drive impaired, and to avoid distractions. The conversation could be the difference in a serious crash.
