TROOP L NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Driver Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 16 Isabel – On Monday, January 13, 2020 shortly before 1:30 AM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a fatal crash involving a single vehicle on LA 16 eastbound approximately 2 miles east of LA 1073 in Washington Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 21-year-old Nathan E. Polk of Bogalusa. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Polk was driving a Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on LA 16. For reasons still under investigation, Polk’s vehicle veered left off the roadway and impacted a tree. Polk sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected for scientific analysis. Polk was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and impairment is suspected.
