TROOP L NEWS RELEASE January 15, 2018 Harahan Resident Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on Interstate 12 Slidell- At approximately 11:07 AM on Monday January 15, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 12 near the Interstate 10/12/59 interchange. The crash has claimed the life of 53 year-old Charles T. Stein of Harahan. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Stein was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Interstate 12. For reasons still under investigation, Stein’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, down an embankment, and into a guardrail on Interstate 10 westbound. Stein was properly restrained at the time of the crash. Investigating Troopers found no indication of braking prior to the crash. Stein was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. Please take a moment to speak with your loved ones about the importance of their safe decisions.
