Nineteen-Year-Old Unrestrained Driver Killed in Fatal Crash on LA 43

Greensburg- At approximately 7:28 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 43, north of LA38 near Lee & Busby Ln. in St. Helena Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 19-year-old Justin Blaine Milton Jr. of Greensburg.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Milton was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 southbound on LA 43. For reasons still under investigation, Milton’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway. The truck traveled approximately 316 feet in the east ditch, before striking a culvert and concrete driveway. Milton was unrestrained at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected to have contributed to the crash. As part of the ongoing investigation, Troopers obtained blood samples. The samples will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The crash marks the second fatal crash in four days in St. Helena Parish, where an unrestrained teenage driver was killed in a crash. Please take a moment to speak with your loved ones about the importance of their safe decisions behind the wheel. Remind them to always wear a seatbelt, never drive impaired, and to avoid distractions. The conversation could be the difference in a serious crash.
