TROOP L NEWS RELEASE Driver Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 43 St. Helena – Shortly before 7:00 am on Sunday October 14, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on LA Hwy 43 1.7 miles south of LA 16 in St. Helena Parish. The crash took the life of 24-year-old Austin Hunter Chunn of Winnsboro, LA. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Chunn was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado south on LA 43. As Chunn entered a curve to the left, his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway onto the shoulder. Chunn overcorrected to the left, causing his vehicle to cross the northbound lane and enter the ditch on the northbound side of the roadway, where it then struck a tree. Despite being properly restrained at the time of the crash, Chunn sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Contact Information: | |||
