TROOP L NEWS RELEASE May 1, 2018 Albany Resident Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 445 Ponchatoula- At approximately 10:25 PM on Monday April 30, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 445 near the intersection of Mike Cooper Road. The crash has claimed the life of 28-year-old Albany resident Jordan M. Hoyt. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Hoyt was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 southbound on LA 445. For reasons still under investigation, Hoyt traveled into the northbound lane and entered the ditch on the left side of the roadway. Hoyt’s vehicle crashed into the ditch embankment at Mike Cooper Road. As Hoyt’s vehicle continued southbound in the ditch, it crashed into several trees and overturned. Hoyt was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He was partially ejected and sustained severe injuries. He was transported to North Oaks Health Systems, where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to have contributed to this crash. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. Please take a moment to speak with your loved ones about the importance of their safe decisions.
