| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE State Police, Troop A – News Release For Immediate Release Driver Sustains Serious Injuries, Later Pronounced Dead At Hospital May 4, 2008 At 2:24 AM, on Saturday, May 3, 2008, Louisiana State Police - Troop A began investigating a serious injury crash. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 1024 east of LA Hwy 447 in Livingston Parish. A Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveled north on Mack Road approaching LA Hwy 1024, while a Ford F-150 traveled east on LA Hwy 1024 approaching Mack Road. The Chevrolet failed stop at a stop sign and crashed into the Ford. The collision caused the Chevrolet to overturn. The driver of the Chevrolet, Derek S. Louque (Male/Age 26) of Walker, LA, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Ochsner Hospital. Shortly after 9:00 AM, Mr. Louque was pronounced dead by the hospital staff. The driver of the Ford, Torri D. Varnado (Female/Age 23) of Walker, LA, sustained minor injuries, but refused medical aid at the scene. Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt and alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. For more information contact: S/T Johnnie L.
