| TROOP L NEWS RELEASE May 6, 2018 Greensburg Resident Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 43 Greensburg - At approximately 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 05, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 43 near the intersection of Brecheen Lane. The crash has claimed the life of 60-year-old Greensburg resident Sylvia Wright. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Wright was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe northwest on LA 43. For reasons still under investigation, Wright failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the roadway to the right. Wright then overcorrected to the left and then back to the right. Her vehicle then traveled of the roadway to the right, rotating in a counter-clockwise direction and overturned several times. Finally, the vehicle struck a tree and came to rest on its roof. Despite being properly restrained, Wright sustained severe injuries in the crash. She was transported to the Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, by Acadian Air Med in critical condition. Troop L was later notified by Our Lady of the Lake that Mrs. Wright had succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to have contributed to this crash. The investigation is on-going. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. Please take a moment to speak with your loved ones about the importance of their safe decisions. Remind them to always wear a seatbelt, never drive impaired, and to avoid distractions. The conversation could be the difference in a serious crash.
