Crash Claims Two Lives, Sends One Person to Area Hospital

May 14, 2008

At 2:48 PM, on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop A began investigating a crash, resulting in a double fatality. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 441 south of US Hwy 190 in Livingston Parish.

A Mazda 6000 pickup truck (southbound) and a Ford Crown Victoria (northbound) traveled towards each other on LA Hwy 441. The two vehicles entered the same curve from opposite ends and crashed head-on (driver headlight to driver headlight). After the collision, the Mazda came to rest in the southbound lane of travel facing the opposite direction, and the Ford came to rest in a ditch on the right side of the road.

The driver of the Ford, Johnny Taylor (Male/Age 76), and his passenger, Louise Taylor (Female/Age 82) both of Livingston, LA, sustained fatal injuries. The Taylor’s were pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the Mazda, Anthony B. Hodges (Male/Age 22) of Holden, LA, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Acadian Ambulance to North Oaks Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were wearing a seatbelt and troopers suspect alcohol to be a factor in this crash. Charges will be provided at the conclusion of the investigation.
