Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Denham Springs Woman Dies in One-Vehicle Crash CLINTON- On January 26, 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a fatal crash which occurred on LA Hwy 63 east of Clinton in East Feliciana Parish. At approximately 9:16 a.m., a 1990 Toyota Camry, driven by Nichole B. Carroll (W/F, age 36, of Denham Springs), was traveling eastbound on LA Hwy 63 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. Carroll attempted to re-enter the roadway but over-corrected her steering, causing her vehicle to begin rotating as it crossed into the westbound lane of LA Hwy 63. Her vehicle then left the roadway on the left side and struck the end of a bridge guardrail near the driver's door. Carroll suffered fatal injuries during the crash. There were no passengers in the vehicle. The driver, who was only partially restrained when the crash occurred, utilized only the motorized shoulder portion of her automatic seat belt system. She was not wearing a lap belt. Alcohol is not considered as a factor in this crash; however, blood was drawn from the driver and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for a chemical analysis. There were no other vehicles involved. Contact: Sgt. Markus L. Smith Public Affairs Unit Louisiana State Police – Headquarters Office: (225) 925-6202 markus.smith@dps.la.gov www.LSP.org | |||
