TROOP L NEWS RELEASE March 5, 2021 Pearl River Man Killed in St. Tammany Parish Crash Pearl River – On Thursday, March 4, 2021, shortly before 6:30 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash on LA 41 south of LA 435 in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of 54-year-old John R. Singletary Sr. of Pearl River. The initial investigation revealed that Singletary was northbound in an unlit section of LA 41 on a 2002 Honda VTX motorcycle behind a 2020 Ford F-150. Singletary moved into the southbound lane of LA 41 to pass the Ford F-150 in a passing zone. At the same time, a 2008 Nissan Altima was southbound on LA 41 without its headlights activated. The Honda VTX and the Nissan Altima impacted head-on ejecting Singletary into the northbound lane of LA 41 where he was impacted by the Ford F-150. Singletary was wearing an approved DOT helmet and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected to be a causal factor in the crash. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were taken for scientific analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Many of the crashes on our roadways are preventable, and lives can be saved if we take how we travel more seriously.
