TROOP L NEWS RELEASE Kentwood Woman Succumbs to Injuries from Three Vehicle Crash Kentwood – On Monday, July 20, 2020, before 8:00 am, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to an injury crash on LA 38 west of Interstate 55 in St Helena Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 78-year-old Caroline R. Kiff of Kentwood. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Kiff was eastbound on LA 38 in a Toyota Tacoma pickup when she began a left turn towards the private driveway of Bebo’s Casino in front of a westbound Freightliner truck. The Freightliner impacted Kiff’s vehicle and pushed it backward while rotating until it impacted a Chevrolet Silverado Pickup. Kiff was properly restrained during the crash and she sustained injuries that required her to be transported to a local area hospital. She succumbed to her injuries several hours later. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death. Contact Information: | |||
