TROOP L NEWS RELEASE Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on US 190 Covington – On Wednesday, April 8, 2020 shortly after 5:30 PM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a serious injury crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle on US 190 at Harrison Ave. in St. Tammany Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 51-year-old Craig L. Williams of Abita Springs. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Williams’ Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on US 190. Williams struck a Chevrolet Silverado also traveling east on US 190. Williams was transported to an area hospital. Williams succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the Silverado was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was uninjured. The driver of the Silverado submitted to a breath sample that did not detect the presence of alcohol. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected from Williams and the driver of the Silverado. Any pending criminal charges will be forwarded to the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time. Troopers urge drivers to always be aware of motorcyclists around them, and likewise urge motorcyclists to engage in safe riding practices when on our roadways.
