Unrestrained Driver Dies in Head-on Crash

Greensburg – On Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 12:30 pm, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a fatal crash on LA 38 west of LA 43 in St. Helena Parish. The crash claimed the life of 69-year-old Joann Daily of Greensburg.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Daily was westbound in the eastbound lane of LA 38 in a 2020 Nissan Versa. At the same time an eastbound 2019 Buick Envision crested a hill on LA 38 and impacted the Nissan Versa head-on. Daily was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries during the crash. She was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s office. Impairment is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. As a part of the investigation, a blood sample was collected from both drivers for scientific analysis.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to make good, safe decisions such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, obeying the speed limit, and avoiding all distractions. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained.
