TROOP L NEWS RELEASE January 24, 2021 State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in St. Tammany Parish Slidell – During the late afternoon hours of January 24, 2021, the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations was requested by the Slidell Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting incident in Slidell, LA. The incident involved an Officer with the Slidell Police Department and a Deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sherriff’s Office. The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 4:30 pm, officers responded to a 911 call in reference to a stabbing incident at a gas station on Airport Road near Interstate 12 in Slidell. Responding officers encountered a male suspect in the parking lot armed with two bladed instruments. During the course of the encounter, officers discharged their duty weapons striking the suspect. The suspect sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. No law enforcement personnel were injured in the incident. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab is processing the incident scene and the investigation is active and ongoing with no further information available at this time.
