| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent HEADQUARTERS - NEWS RELEASE Troopers Arrest Walker Woman for Gustav Fraud BATON ROUGE – Troopers working in the Baton Rouge Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit arrested Paulette Carter (W/F, age 51) of Walker yesterday in Livingston Parish after the conclusion of an investigation stemming from a complaint made by Kemper Insurance Company. Following Hurricane Gustav, Carter filed a claim on her homeowner’s policy for damages sustained to her roof. Kemper processed the claim and required she fax the repair invoices to them so her claim could be settled. Carter faxed an invoice to Kemper, but it appeared the repair amount had been altered. The roofer who did the repairs confirmed the invoice had been altered. Kemper was able to deny the claim before Carter received the settlement. The Trooper’s investigation concluded that Carter’s actions were fraudulent and she attempted to defraud Kemper of $2,000.00. Troopers obtained an arrest warrant in the 21st Judicial District Court, arrested Carter, and booked her into the Livingston Parish Jail on one count of Insurance Fraud. Contact Information: | |||
