Single Vehicle Crash Kills Unrestrained Driver in Tangipahoa Parish

Shortly before 12:00 A.M. this morning, Troopers responded to a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on La. 22 near milepost 53 in Tangipahoa Parish.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2010 Buick La Crosse being operated by Dustin M. Tallo (W/M 44) of Ponchatoula was eastbound on La. 22. Tallo, for reasons under investigation, drifted off the right side of the road, impacted a driveway embankment, and became airborne. The Buick flipped several times and came to rest on its right side in the southbound lane of La. 22.

Tallo, the sole occupant, was unrestrained and ejected during the crash. Tallo was pronounced dead on the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. At this time it is unknown if alcohol is a factor; however, a blood sample was collected from Tallo for a toxicological analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle (cars and trucks), regardless of seating position, always to remain buckled up (day and night). Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.
