Mississippi Motorcyclist Dies on Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish Crash

Tangipahoa Parish – Early this morning at approximately 12:45 am, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred on Interstate 12 eastbound near Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash took the life of Larry Seemann of Osyka, MS.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Seemann (W/M 49) and a 2012 Buick operated by Marlo Green (B/M 38) of Missouri City, TX. were eastbound on I-12, near mile marker 38, west of I-55. Seemann, for reasons under investigation failed to yield; struck the rear of the Buick, lost control, and was ejected. Seemann suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office.

Marlo was restrained and impairment is not suspected on his part. Seemann was wearing a helmet, which was not D.O.T. approved and impairment is unknown on his part. Troopers collected a blood sample from Seemann for a toxicological analysis; those results are pending as this crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorcyclists that they must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Motorcycle riders can find more information on helmet guidelines and rider safety courses by visiting www.lsp.org/motorcycle.html. Motorists must also be reminded, during this Labor Day Weekend, that alcohol has many effects on the body. Alcohol can impair visual ability, impair fine motor skills needed to operate a vehicle, and decrease reaction times. Just one drink may cause these effects.
