| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled in East Baton Rouge Parish BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Troop A, in cooperation with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in East Baton Rouge Parish on Saturday, December 26, 2009, beginning at 9:00 p.m. Troopers, Deputies, and Wildlife Agents will be out aggressively enforcing the state’s DWI laws throughout the holiday season in an effort to keep impaired drivers off our roadways and to ensure the safety of the motoring public. Every year on the highways across the state of Louisiana, numerous people are killed or seriously injured because of impaired drivers. Sobriety checkpoints are effective enforcement tools because they serve as a deterrent to impaired driving. Not allowing impaired drivers to get behind the wheel of a car or boat and reporting possible impaired drivers to local police stations can potentially save lives. The public is encouraged to share in the responsibility of keeping impaired drivers off our roadways. The State Police number to call is *LSP or (*577) on your cell phone. Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment! Drive Impaired, Go to Jail! For more information contact: TFC Russell G.
