Unrestrained Driver Dies in Tangipahoa Parish Crash

Tangipahoa Parish – Yesterday at approximately 1:00 pm, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash. The crash occurred on I-55 southbound approximately 1 mile south of La. 40 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of Linda Crozier of Brookhaven, Ms.

Initial investigation revealed that a 2008 Toyota Prius, operated by Crozier (W/F 67), was traveling southbound on I-55 near mile marker 39 in the left lane. Crozier, for reasons under investigation, veered to the right, traveled off of the roadway to the right, and struck a tree. Crozier was not restrained, received life threatening injuries, and was transported to North Oaks Hospital where she later died.

Impairment is not suspected; however, blood and urine samples were collected from Crozier for a toxicological analysis. Those results are pending as this crash remains under investigation.

Troopers witness firsthand the remarkable difference the use of a seat belt makes in reducing injuries and fatalities in crashes. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.
