TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE July 30, 2014 Tangipahoa Parish Woman Arrested for Implementing a Fraudulent Check Cashing Scheme Tangipahoa Parish - In May 2014, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation Hammond Field Office received a complaint from a Tangipahoa Parish based business owner. The complaint indicated that an employee illegally obtained monies through a fraudulent check cashing scheme. The complaint indicated that Barbara W. Dantone (W/F 70) of Robert was a bookkeeper. In February 2014 her employer became aware of several discrepancies in the businesses' tax returns and bank accounts. LSP Detectives gathered evidence through investigative techniques and an arrest warrant for Dantone was issued by the 21st Judicial District Court. On July 29, 2014, Dantone was arrested and booked at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite for felony theft of over $125,700.00 in US currency, over 254 counts of forgery, and 254 counts of bank fraud. Louisiana State Police are committed to investigating criminal or suspicious activity.
