Troop L - NEWS RELEASE June 10, 2014 Two Vehicle Crash Kills Unrestrained Motorist in Washington Parish Warnerton – Sunday evening at approximately 6:30 P.M., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on La. 25 at the intersection of La. 438 near Warnerton in Washington Parish. The crash took the life of Taylor Miller (W/F 19) of Franklinton. Preliminary investigation revealed that Miller was operating a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina eastbound on La. 438 approaching La. 25 near mile marker 38 and a 2012 Peterbilt operated by Cameron Lee (B/M 38) of Tylertown, Ms. was traveling northbound on La. 25. Miller, for reasons under investigation, approached the stop sign at La. 25, failed to yield, attempted to cross La. 25, and was struck on the right side by the Peterbilt. Miller was not restrained and was air-lifted to the Interim LSU Hospital LEVEL 1 Trauma Center in New Orleans. Troopers were notified Tuesday that Miller died from injuries sustained from the crash. Impairment on Miller’s part is unknown and a blood sample was unable to be collected. Lee was restrained, not injured, and he voluntarily submitted a breath sample revealing no detectable alcohol in his system. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chance of survival in a violent crash increases significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.
