Unrestrained Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

BATON ROUGE – Troop A investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 68 east of LA 964 in East Feliciana Parish shortly after noon today. Investigation revealed that a 1999 Infiniti Q45 was traveling east on LA 68 when the driver, Kendall M. Dunn (B/M, age 37) of Baton Rouge, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road to the left. Dunn was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner. Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash; however, Troopers have submitted a sample of Dunn’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.

Troopers continue to see fatal crashes where the deceased was unrestrained at the time of the crash. While the use of seat belts continues to rise, the majority of serious injuries and deaths are still the result of violent crashes where the injured and dead are unrestrained. Wearing a seat belt is a decision that all vehicle occupants must make. According to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, over 65% of fatal crashes in 2008 occurred when the occupant was not restrained. Troopers will continue to aggressively enforce Louisiana’s primary seat belt law in an effort to continue the increase of seat belt use. Troopers would like to remind EVERYONE to buckle up before getting on the roadway.

BUCKLE UP, SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES!!!
