| TROOP L NEWS RELEASE October 30, 2012 Narcotics Investigation Leads to Arrest of Washington Parish Resident On October 28, 2012, Troopers and Narcotics Investigators from Louisiana State Police arrested 32 year old Bernard Forrest of Angie, LA following a ten month investigation into the importation, possession, and distribution of cocaine throughout the Washington Parish area. The arrest was the result of a multi-agency investigation including the Louisiana State Police Narcotics Unit, Drug Enforcement Administration, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Bogalusa Police Department. During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Forrest as a major component in the importation of narcotics into the Bogalusa area and uncovered a criminal plot for the trafficking of cocaine and marijuana into Washington Parish. Troopers from LSP Troop L located Forrest traveling east on Interstate 12 in a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse and conducted a traffic stop after observing a traffic violation on the vehicle. Upon receiving consent to search the vehicle, Troopers discovered approximately 1 pound of "High Grade" marijuana, 1 pound of cocaine, 385 grams of synthetic marijuana, and over $700 in cash concealed within the spare tire. Forrest was subsequently taken into custody without incident and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on charges of Improper Lane Use, Following Too Closely, 2 counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and 1 count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The estimated combined street value of the narcotics is over $25,000.
