| TROOP L NEWS RELEASE November 14, 2012 **UPDATE** Shortly after 9:00pm this evening, Troopers successfully located and made contact with the victim’s next of kin currently residing near the Portland, Oregon area. The victim is identified as 58 year old Bruce D. Burge. Troopers are continuing their investigation into the hit and run fatality crash with recovered evidence currently being examined at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Troopers Searching for Suspect Vehicle in Fatal Hit and Run Crash November 11, 2012 Robert, LA – Shortly after dawn this morning, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L discovered a fatal hit and run crash scene on LA 445 approximately two miles north of U.S. 190 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash took the life of a 58 year old Hammond bicyclist and is expected to have occurred sometime before midnight yesterday evening. Troopers’ investigation revealed that the crash occurred as the bicyclist was traveling north on LA 445 when it was stuck from behind by an unknown maroon colored sedan. After impact, the suspect vehicle fled northbound on LA 445 leaving the bicyclist lying on the east shoulder of the roadway. Troopers are currently working to locate next of kin for the victim at which time the victim’s identity will be released. Troopers are actively searching for the hit and run vehicle believed to be a maroon colored sedan, possibly a Saturn, with damage to its right front bumper, quarter panel, and windshield.
