TROOP L NEWS RELEASE June 11, 2013 Troopers Seek Information in Hammond OMV Burglary Hammond, LA – Following an early morning burglary at the Hammond Office of Motor Vehicles, LSP Detectives are investigating evidence collected at the scene and seeking assistance from the public to provide information regarding the incident. Troopers’ preliminary investigation revealed that the burglary took place between approximately 2:00–3:00 am as an unknown vehicle backed into the front glass wall of the OMV gaining entry into the building. The suspect(s) proceeded to use the vehicle to break the floor mounted ATM from its mounting bolts and load the ATM into the trunk of the vehicle before fleeing the scene. A search of the OMV by employees revealed only the ATM was taken during the burglary with all license plates and license equipment accounted for. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle to be a white or possibly light colored sedan with damage to its rear fender and right rear quarter panel.
