TROOP L NEWS RELEASE June 13, 2013 Single Vehicle Crash Takes Life of Kentwood Woman Hammond, LA – This morning shortly before 10:30am, Troopers from LSP Troop L began investigating a one vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 55 at the LA 3234 / Wardline Road exit. The crash took the life of 63 year old Kentwood resident Linda Hilbert. Troopers’ investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Hilbert was traveling south in the left lane of Interstate 55 in a 2007 Chevrolet HHR. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted off road to the left resulting in Hilbert overcorrecting to the right. The Chevrolet subsequently veered across both southbound lanes before running off road on the right side of the highway. As the vehicle left the paved roadway, it entered the roadside ditch and overturned coming to rest on its left side. Hilbert sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and impairment is not suspected. While the crash remains under investigation, Troopers urge drivers to stay alert while behind the wheel and remain vigilant of quickly changing roadway conditions while traveling at interstate speeds. Motorists should be free from distractions, impairment, and always well rested before operating a motor vehicle on Louisiana’s highways. | |||
