TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE June 15, 2013 Troopers Search for Hit and Run Vehicle that Killed a Pedestrian in St. Helena Parish Shortly before 5:00 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop L was notified of a fatality hit and run crash on LA 43 in St. Helena Parish. A pedestrian, William Iasigi (W/M, age 21) of Liberty, MS, was struck by a vehicle and taken to a local hospital where he later died. Preliminary investigation revealed that Iasigi was driving a 2008 Chevrolet pick-up truck and for unknown reasons, stopped the truck in the lane of travel on LA 43 south, just north of the Greensburg city limits. Iasigi exited the vehicle and an unknown vehicle struck Iasigi and the open door of the pick-up truck. Iasigi was taken to a local hospital by his passenger, Jarrett Wilson (W/M, age 23) of Osyka, MS and a pedestrian that was in the vicinity of the crash, Thomas Bailey. Iasigi was pronounced dead at approximately 5:05 AM. Troopers collected evidence from the crash scene and, at this time, believe the hit and run vehicle is a light colored, possibly white or silver, Chevrolet or GMC pick-up truck. This vehicle is missing the driver’s side view mirror assembly and may have more damage in the front and passenger side. The crash remains under investigation.
