| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE January 13, 2017 Clinton Woman Arrested after Fatal Crash with Motorcycle in East Feliciana Parish Clinton, LA– Shortly after 6:00 am on January 13, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash that occurred at the intersection of LA 67 (Plank Rd.) and Gross Rd. in East Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 61 year old William James of Summit, MS and resulted in the arrest of 68 year old Cynthia Cambre of Clinton, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Cambre was traveling westbound on Gross Rd. in a 2015 Jeep Renegade. At the same time, James was operating his 2013 Triumph motorcycle northbound on LA 67. Cambre came to a stop at the intersection but failed to yield the right of way to James. Cambre began to make a left turn onto LA 67 into the path of James’ motorcycle. James’ motorcycle struck the driver’s side door of Cambre’s vehicle and burst into flames. James sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner’s Office. Cambre sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Lane Memorial Hospital for treatment. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis. Cambre has been placed under arrest by Troopers for Negligent Homicide and Failure to Yield at a Stop Sign.
