LSP Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics Investigation and Seizure

TROOP L- A multi-agency investigation stemming from a Covington traffic stop has resulted in the arrest of a Houston, TX woman on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and the subsequent seizure of additional narcotics and paraphernalia from a Bogalusa residence. The investigation included representatives from the DEA, LSP Region I Detectives, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Bogalusa Police Department.

The traffic stop took place shortly before midnight on the evening of April 29th, 2013 as a Trooper observed a 2013 Toyota sedan driving erratically while northbound on LA 21 in Covington. Upon contact with the driver, 41 year old Veronique Allen originally of Bogalusa, LA, the Trooper received consent to search the vehicle resulting in the discovery of 2.4 kilograms of cocaine in a rear cargo compartment.

Further investigation by detectives revealed that the narcotics were headed to the Bogalusa area for distribution throughout the community. Through additional investigative measures, narcotic agents identified a residence in Bogalusa suspected of the drug activity and executed a search warrant resulting in the additional seizure of marijuana, cocaine, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Anyone wishing to report criminal or suspicious activity to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations is urged to contact detectives at 225-925-3682.
