Unrestrained Loranger Resident Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 22

Madisonville, LA- Shortly after 9:00 pm on Friday June 3, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 22 west of LA 1085 in Madisonville. The crash claimed the life of 31 year-old Brent D. Cyprian of Loranger, LA.

The initial crash investigation led Troopers to determine Cyprian was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on LA 22. For reasons still under investigation, Cyprian’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the westbound lane. Cyprian overcorrected to the right and then to the left, causing his vehicle to overturn as it entered the ditch on the westbound side of the roadway. Cyprian’s vehicle continued through the ditch and crashed into a tree on the vehicle’s passenger side. Cyprian was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to Lakeview Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Cyprian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Emergency Room Doctor. As part of the on-going crash investigation, blood samples were obtained. The samples will be examined by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.

While not every crash is survivable, Troopers continue to stress the importance of seat belt use. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2014 alone, seat belts saved over 12,000 people. Please take a moment and share with your loved ones the importance of wearing a seat belt every trip, every time.
