Unrestrained 18 Year-Old Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 1054

Tangipahoa Parish- Shortly after 7:00 AM on Thursday May 11, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 1054 south of LA 16. The crash claimed the life of 18 year-old Hammond resident Nathan Daniel Arnold.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Arnold was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on LA 1054. For reasons still under investigation, Arnold’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and collide with a tree. Arnold was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. As part of the ongoing investigation toxicology tests will be conducted.

While the evidence pertaining to this crash remains under investigation, Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. Distractions, impairment, carelessness, and lack of restraint use continue to be factors in preventable crashes. Please, take a moment and speak to your loved ones about the importance of safe decisions while driving. The conversation you have today could be the difference tomorrow.
