TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE April 29, 2016 19 Year-Old Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 38 in St. Helena Parish Greensburg, LA- Shortly after midnight on Friday, April 29, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L were dispatched to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 38 north of LA 10 in St. Helena Parish. The crash claimed the life of 19 year-old Hunter Michael McGregor of Franklinton, LA. Physical evidence on-scene led investigating Troopers to determine that McGregor was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on LA 38. As McGregor traveled through a curved portion of LA 38, his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. McGregor then overcorrected to the left, causing his vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise as it traveled through the eastbound lane and into a ditch. After entering the ditch, McGregor’s vehicle overturned and impacted a large tree. Despite being properly restrained, McGregor sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on-scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office. Troopers do not suspect impairment to have been a contributing factor in this crash. As part of the on-going crash investigation, Troopers obtained blood samples, which will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
