Motorcyclist Dies in Tangipahoa Parish Crash

Manchac, Louisiana- Shortly after 7:00 PM on Sunday July 12th, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal motorcycle crash on US 51 in Manchac. The crash claimed the life of 67 year old Willie Hebert of Luling, Louisiana.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Hebert was traveling south on US 51 operating a 2015 Indian Roadmaster Motorcycle. For reasons still under investigation, Hebert’s motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Hebert was ejected from his motorcycle and impacted a tree.

Hebert was fatally injured in the collision despite wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation approved helmet. Hebert was pronounced deceased on scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to remind motorists to remain vigilant and watch out for motorcycles. Motorcyclists must wear a proper U.S. D.O.T approved helmet when operating a motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not every crash is survivable, utilizing proper safety equipment decreases your risk of serious injury or death.
