Troop L - NEWS RELEASE October 13th, 2015 Unrestrained Motorist Killed on US 51 South of Ponchatoula Ponchatoula, LA-Shortly before 9:30 AM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L received a call from a motorist informing Troopers of a submerged vehicle on US 51 south of Ponchatoula. Troopers responded to the scene and discovered a partially submerged Chevrolet Tahoe in the water. On retrieving the vehicle from the water, Troopers discovered the remains of the driver, 25 year-old Ryan Keith Guidroz of Foley, AL within the vehicle. Troopers are still investigating when the crash occurred. Crash scene investigators were able to determine Guidroz was traveling southbound on US 51. For reasons still under investigation, Guidroz’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, over turned and became partially submerged upside down. Guidroz was not restrained at the time of the crash. Blood samples were obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, simply putting on a seatbelt could be the difference between life and death. Please do your part by never driving impaired, always putting on your seatbelt and eliminating distractions.
