TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Woman Dies in Tangipahoa Parish Single Vehicle Crash Robert - Last night at approximately 8:50 pm Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash, on La. 445 at mile marker 4, just north of US 190 in Robert. The crash took the life of the unrestrained driver, Bridget Rodriguez (W/F 40) of Mandeville. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Toyota Sequoia, operated by Rodriguez, was traveling north on La. 445. Rodriguez, for reasons under investigation, veered to the right, lost control, ran off of the roadway and struck a tree. Rodriguez was ejected and partially pinned under the Sequoia as it overturned. Rodriguez received life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected in this crash; however, a blood sample was taken from Rodriguez for a toxicological analysis. Those results are pending as this crash remains under investigation. Statistics show that injury crashes occur across our nation approximately every seven and a half minutes. Choosing to ALWAYS buckle up is the simplest thing you can do to protect yourself from serious injury or death when involved in any crash.
