Troop L - NEWS RELEASE October 27th, 2015 Local, State, and Federal Agencies to Conduct Joint Training Exercise in Ponchatoula Ponchatoula, LA- On Thursday October 29th, 2015, The Louisiana State Police along with The Canadian National Railroad will be partnering with over twenty-five local, state and federal authorities in conducting a joint training exercise in Ponchatoula, LA. The exercise is open to the public and scheduled to begin shortly after 8:00 AM Thursday morning. The 1st training scenario will take place on Tower Rd. near the intersection of US 51 Business. Tower Rd. will be closed to thru traffic at Cedar Ln and at US 51. The second training scenario will take place at the Jesse Doty Youth Development center located at 250 N. 2nd St., Ponchatoula, LA. North 2nd St. will be closed for one block [East Beech St. to East Hickory St.]. Informational flyers will be going out to houses and businesses in the nearby areas. This controlled training scenario will help first responders evaluate their effectiveness in responding to a large scale disaster or threat in their respective areas.
