TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE February 12, 2016 Motorcyclist Killed in High Speed Crash in Slidell Slidell, LA- Shortly after 5:30 PM, on Thursday February 11, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L were dispatched to a fatal crash on LA 433 [Bayou Liberty Rd.] near Kimberly Ln. The crash claimed the life of 54 year-old David Chester Loder Jr. from Slidell. Crash scene investigators determined Loder was operating a 1996 Honda Shadow motorcycle westbound on LA 433 at a high rate of speed. Loder attempted to pass another vehicle on the right shoulder. As Loder passed, his motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, entered the ditch, and struck a culvert. Loder was ejected from the motorcycle. Despite wearing a DOT approved motorcycle helmet, Loder sustained severe injuries in the crash. Loder was transported to Lakeview Hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. As part of the on-going crash investigation, blood samples were obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
