TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE April 11, 2016 Single Vehicle Crash on LA 40 Claims Life of Unrestrained 19 Year-Old Bush, LA- Shortly after 6:30 AM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 40 near LA 1082 in Bush. The driver, 19 year-old Morgan Wade Hunt from Covington, did not survive the crash. The initial on scene crash investigation revealed that Hunt was driving a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder westbound on LA 40 west of LA 1082. For reasons still under investigation, Hunt’s vehicle traveled off the roadway impacting a culvert and several trees. Hunt was unrestrained at the time of the crash and was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. As part of the on-going crash investigation, blood samples were obtained and will be analyzed by the Coroner’s Office. While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelt use continues to be the single most effective way of reducing your likelihood of being seriously injured or killed in a vehicle crash.
