Troop L - NEWS RELEASE December 25th, 2015 Christmas Eve Crash Claims Life of Kentwood Resident Kentwood, LA- Shortly after 11:00 PM on Christmas Eve, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L were dispatched to a fatal crash on LA 38 west of LA 1050 in St. Helena Parish. The crash claimed the life of 35 year-old Kentwood resident Kristi Allen. Crash scene investigators determined that a Ford Mustang driven by 22 year-old Tanya Crowe of Amite, LA was traveling westbound on LA 38. Kristi Allen was walking in the westbound travel lane and was struck by the left front of Crowe’s Mustang. The location of the crash scene is a rural area with no street lights and there was a light misting rain at the time of the crash. Following the collision, Allen was transported to St. Helena Parish Hospital by Acadian Ambulance in critical condition. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Allen succumbed to her injuries. As part of the Troopers on-going investigation, blood samples were obtained from Allen and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Crowe voluntarily provided Troopers with a breath sample. The sample showed no trace amounts of alcohol. Pedestrian crashes on Louisiana roadways are too common. If you plan on walking on or near the roadway, please do your part to ensure your safety. Troopers recommend wearing reflective clothing, walking as far away from the travel lanes as possible, and being aware of your surroundings.
