Troop L - NEWS RELEASE December 13th, 2015 Hammond Resident Killed in Single Vehicle Crash in Tangipahoa Parish Hammond, LA- Shortly after 8:00 PM on Saturday December 12th, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 1065 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of 34 year-old David Neal Giacone of Hammond, LA. Crash scene investigators determined Giacone was driving a Ford F-150 southbound on LA 1065. For reasons still under investigation, Giacone’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Giacone over corrected to the left, causing his vehicle to begin to rotate counterclockwise as it traveled into the northbound lanes and off the left side of the roadway. After running off of the left side of the roadway, Giacone’s truck crashed into a ditch. The impact with the ditch caused the vehicle to overturn before finally crashing into a tree. Giacone was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. Blood samples were obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
