TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE January 13th, 2016 Greensburg Resident Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 63 Pine Grove, LA- Shortly after 7:30 AM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L were dispatched to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 63 near LA 16 in Pine Grove. The crash claimed the life of the driver, 23 year-old Cullen Hayes of Greensburg, LA. Crash scene investigators determined Hayes was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla southbound on LA 63 approaching LA 16. For reasons still under investigation, Hayes’ vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Hayes overcorrected to the left, causing his vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise as it re-entered the southbound lane. The vehicle then continued across the northbound lane and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the left side of the roadway, Hayes’ vehicle impacted a ditch and overturned as it collided with a tree. Despite being properly restrained, Hayes sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office. Blood samples were obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
